Masking Textured Surfaces - Step by Step Instructions

  • Learn how to apply ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape to a textured surface.
    Apply Tape

    Make sure the surface is clean and dry. Lay tape onto the surface, pressing down as you go.

  • Learn how to use caulk and ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape on a textured surface.
    Use Caulk

    Use a thin strip of paintable caulk to seal the tape. Apply a small amount (less than 1/8”) to the edge of the tape.

  • Use caulk and ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape to mask textured surfaces for painting.
    Smooth it Out

    Smooth the caulk out with a rag or your finger to ensure it adheres properly.

  • ScotchBlue™ Painter's Tape makes it easy to mask and paint textured surfaces.
    Paint

    Allow caulk to dry, and then paint the new color. Allow paint to dry to touch and remove tape. Check the paint can for the manufacturer's dry times.
